Fedora 17 'Beefy Miracle' Comes Out In 5 Days!!

Hey guys! Thanks for tuning in today! Here at GeekBlogTV we are eagerly anticipating the release of the newest Fedora 17 cleverly entitled ‘Beefy Miracle’. Speaking for myself, James, Fedora 16 has been my favorite operating system of choice since I first fell in love and settled on a ‘favorite’ linux distro back at RedHat 5.2 when KDE and GNOME were hardly different at all. KDE was my favorite back then, although now I can’t be bothered to put up with the amount of resources it consumes, hence, the XFCE install we have here.

XFCE has become for me what Gnome 2 once was for me. Gnome 3 was a bit of a departure in the opposite direction of where my head is at right now. Down the road, I might like it; hell, I even thinking Unity looks OK in the new Precise Pangolin, but I digress. I like the configurability and speed of XFCE as it relates to Gnome 3. As there are still releases and updates for XFCE4, and there are no more updates for Gnome 2, the choice is pretty obvious.

My closest runner up would be MATE (Mah-Tay :) which we viewed in our Linux Mint 13 MATE Preview video here: http://youtu.be/715xf0Qn6EE

We also think LXDE is a good option, but for matters of taste and habit I have stuck with XFCE4 but I fully endorse LXDE as a viable alternative.

Fluxbox is nice too, but a bit emaciated.
