How To Install Windows From USB Drive – Ultrabook or Netbook Tutorial – Tutorial Tuesday

Hey guys! In this episode, we are setting up a new computer but I don’t have a working CD drive! Oh no! This could be a very useful tutorial for those of you out there with ultrabooks and netbooks who don’t have a built in disc drive.

You don’t need to download any programs, and you can have it done in about 20 minutes. About 15 of those minutes are just spent waiting for the USB thumb drive to format.

For this project I recommend using an 8GB USB thumb drive, but you may be able to get away with a 4GB USB thumb drive depending on the size of your Windows files. You can use this tutorial to install Windows 7 from a USB drive, or to install Windows 8 from a USB drive.

I am not sure if this tutorial will allow you to install Windows XP from a thumb drive, but I do know that you can use a program that will flash a thumb drive pretty easily for you, because I ran into that tutorial while doing research for this one.
