• Codecademy Has Me By The Bytes and Won’t Let Go!

I have been on a crazy Codecademy learning-binge the last two days. The bug has bit me hard this time since they just rolled out the new Python course. I participated in the Python beta, and enjoyed it, but I got frustrated when I completed the beta course and still wasn’t programming anything on my own. A few days later, I got an email alerting me that the full Python course went live, and I’ve been coming back ever since.

    Check out my progress:

Here are the Codecademy courses I have already completed.

Also, the nifty thing that keeps me coming back is that they tell you how long exactly that you have been on a roll. There is a counter at the top of the screen that says how many days in a row you have come back and completed a task. If you miss one day, it starts back over at 0, and since I missed a day, mine currently reads 3 days.

Currently I am working on three ‘tracks’ or courses of study: JavaScript Fundamentals Track , Code Year Track, and Web Fundamentals Track. When you view your stats, they put it on a big timeline for you to show where you are headed and how much you have to go. Check it out:

The courses can be different lengths and have different goals, so please don’t consider me a slacker by the amount of progress I have made in my courses. For example, the Code Year consists of about 500 exercises and 8 challenges, and includes other entire courses in it.. Working on my Web Fundamentals Track, for example, gives me points in the Code Year because the Code Year is a culmination of other exercises.

Anyway, I just wanted to show you guys what I have been up to, and once again plug Codecademy.com one more time because these guys have a great thing going here!
