• YouTube Adds Syndication Options to Monetization Settings

To syndicate or not to syndicate? It all boils down to money.

To syndicate or not to syndicate? It all boils down to money.

I was busy uploading a video for a tutorial request, and I was going through the normal routine, filling in blanks, and I came across a new option. Could this be a new feature rollout? It basically boils down to ad revenue.

Do you want to show your content in venues that are unable to be monetized, or do you want your content only to be seen in areas where it can successfully make you money?

What follows is only my opinion. I can be a bit crass, so if language offends you, please go check out something more family friendly, like an episode of Lifehacker.

I chose to show my content on all devices, regardless of ad revenue. My logic behind this decision is I think that saying only monetized views should get my content is fucking ridiculous and it tells people that they aren’t worth your time if you can’t make a buck off them.

That type of mentality should be ousted from the content creation industry, and those creators should be named and shamed. Who cares how people see your content? The fact that people will sit down for longer than a minute and watch what you made, without being asked is motherfucking MAGICAL and you should be thankful for every single view and subscribe!

If you have a great reason for wanting to hold your content from those who cannot make you any ad-money, I’d love to hear it.
