Alright guys I’m putting together my list of must-have apps for android, and a brief description what I use them for and what I like about them. If you feel like I left anything out, feel free to mention in comments!

    Comments:

I love this app! I use it to aggregate my favorite news sources into a few different pages where each channel is in a little strip that you can just thumb through very quickly with a little tumbnail. It is so convenient! Pulse News Reader is my number one news reader app for android all day long. Also, a good thing about it is that you can sign in, and add some social functionality as well as bookmark backups for your pages, which if you are like me and root your phone and change the roms constantly, you will definitely appreciate getting all your settings back right away!

I don’t know how many of you saw my video on HTC Evo 4G Android Wardriving but I have a phone with a little kickstand on the back of it, so when I’m getting ready in the morning or when I am cooking, I’ll qeue up a playlist on the Ted Talks app from the Google Play store, and it is always the most inspirational talks back to back, no commercials, no junk. Not to say there aren’t some presenters that must be taken with a grain of salt, but I
d say that 9/10 of the videos you watch on there is someone who you should keep an eye on as far as the movers and the shakers in technology and the future.

I think this one is pretty self-explanatory, I use this app to record surprisingly good audio, in a variety of formats, like WAV, MP3, AIFF, OGG and a few others. The full version costs 5$ and I think it is worth every penny.

    Stumbleupon

    Comments:
I use stumbleupon all the time, not only to post our articles to boost viewership, but also to see all the things I never even thought existed. The premise is that you click a couple of things that you like to create a list of interests and then when you ‘stumble’ you get a random page that is chosen based on your likes and dislikes and every time you get a new page, you can either thumb up or thumb down the site to help you get cooler sites in the future.

I think this is the best Gchat for android, and it also supports quite a few other social networks.

I always tell my girlfriend Rachel that news happens first on Reddit. Often I find that I am seeing headlines for the first time on Reddit. This is because Reddit is a huge community that just submits links all day and new information and it is all segregated into little categories called sub-Reddits.

This is by far the best browser on Android I have ever used. It has so many features, like these nifty little sidebars with useful tools for web browsing on the go. It also has a shortcuts page similar to Google Chrome.

If you are the kind of guy who has your CPU overclocked, your video card overclocked, your RAM overclocked, and your toaster overclocked, odds are you want a way to overclock your phone too. This app has done this for me seamlessly and automatically ever since I got my Sprint EVO 4G. I Love this phone.
